BSE and NSE Closed on August 15, 2024: What You Should Know


Both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will be closed on August 15, 2024 to commemorate the independence day of India. Consequently, it will be a whole day of stock market holiday with no trade in equity segments, derivatives trading among others in currency pairs commodities etc.

Impacted Trading Segments

Equities: No stocks’ trades are available.

Derivatives: For index and stock futures/options closed.

Currency Derivatives: The exchange halts trading for currency pairs like USD/INR.

Interest Rate & Commodity Derivatives: Nothing doing in this segment.

Why the Closure?

The national Independence Day of India is when these markets go through closure as a sign of honor. Traders hence have until 14th August to undertake any needful transactions on their accounts before the market closure period starts, and thereafter it’s going to be a manic week following resumption of trades from 16th August onwards with some severe volatility possible.”
